The Heroines

is honored with a Brick from the Donna Dilsaver family.

 Mildred V. Shannon

The occasion of her 90th birthday, Valentine's Day, 1999, gave Mildred V. Shannon's nieces the opportunity to publicly say "thank you" to a lifetime role model and very private person.

Although she had no children of her own, her professional career at KG&E and Gas Service for four decades provided three generations of women in the family with an enduring positive influence.

She and her husband Paul were sports fans to the point that they held the record, until recently, for continuous season tickets for WSU basketball. That enthusiasm carried over to her following the high school and college careers of young family members.

Although physically frail most of her life, her inner strength, faith, determination and laughter is remembered uniquely by each of her nieces resulting in this nomination for Mildred Valentine Shannon to be recognized as a heroine in this community.
