The Heroines

Dolores Porter

is honored with a Brick from Celina E. Porter

This is to recognize the accomplishments of my mother, Dolores Maxine (Rivers) Porter. She is the daughter of Alvin (deceased) and Charlotte (Pitmon) Rivers and was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 4, 1933. She and my father, Charles E. Porter, were married on June 28, 1952.

She accompanied my father for 17 years, across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, during his career in the U.S. Air Force. After my father retired from the military, both my mother and father enrolled at Wichita State University. Mother received her B.A. in social work in 1976. She and my father, who received his B.S. in nursing, received master's degrees in May, 1981.

Mother retired after having been a social worker for 25 years and now has her own business, Love 'N Marriage, Inc., and is a wedding coordinator. There are two children, my sister Charlotte and I, and we both are parents of the five grandchildren.
