Connie UnreinConnie Unrein, 64, passed away October 18, 2016. She was a preferred dog trainer for many people and worked for Pet Smart. Connie cared so much for all animals and wanted them to succeed in her classes. She always made graduations special and prepared goody bags for all the four legged graduates out of her own funds. She had a very special dog in her life, a Jack Russel terrier named Sarge, she thought he was the smartest dog around. Sarge was her demo dog for training techniques and a special friend to Connie. She was admissions supervisor of Wesley Hospital for several years, most recently she worked in collections at Wichita State University, Connie loved her job, the people and the students she worked with. She also volunteered as an usher with her husband, Bob, at Wichita Theater League. Bob and Connie loved to travel and take in the sights along the way, she especially enjoyed being at the lakes, skiing and camping. She was a jet skier and an avid 4-wheeler on the Oklahoma Sand Dunes in her day. She always looked forward to kicking back on a Saturday and sharing food and stories with fellow campers. They loved going to the Kansas State Fair and camping there for a week at a time, she would visit with all the vendors, eat everything she could find, and try out new foods and recipes. She took great pride when she talked about the cooking awards she won when she worked at Wesley. She organized Christmas cookie and candy making marathons, sharing the food she would make with everyone. In recent days, Connie would just love to jump in the back seat of a van and travel to Oklahoma City, Kansas City or Abilene for a new adventure. She would go to every Farmers Market she could find and was especially always on the lookout for Mystery books and Morrell Mushrooms to fry up in lots of BUTTER. She loved just to kick back and watch a good movie with friends and sharing a meal together, she was a super friend and would give you the world if she could. Connie is survived by husband, Bob; daughter, Katie (Michael) Murphy; parents, Jim and Caroline Savage; sister, Nita Oxford; grandchildren, Brittanie and Kyle Murphy; dear friends Gayla and Tim Shrank; as well as her beloved pets, Tater, and Izzy.
