The Heroines

Jillian Hoefer

is honored with a Brick from the staff at the Wichita State Child Development Center

Mary Anne Evans, who wrote under the pen name George Eliot, once said "Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul on another." Not one quote can fully sum up the impact of Jill's influence but this is pretty close. She is a passionate, loving, driven, fearless leader devoted to the lives of the children and the staff at the Wichita State Child Development Center. She began her days at the WSU CDC in 2000 as an Assistant Teacher and soon moved up to Lead Teacher. From Lead Teacher, she moved to Assistant Director. Not long after, she moved up again and has been in the Director's position since 2011. She has a Certificate in Child Play Therapy and a Master's degree in Education with emphasis in Counseling. She is fiercely devoted to the constant betterment of not only the children, but also their families and her staff. Every person that comes through the front doors is known to her by name and she holds their best interest in her heart. Jill does it all; from business and making numbers match, to new and evolving learning environments for the children, to innovative trainings and practices for staff. She makes sure each child and their specific needs are attended to. She goes above and beyond to create an enjoyable, loving, and family atmosphere. Every life she touches walks away a little brighter.

A few of the current children at the center were asked what they would like to say about her. A few of their responses are shared below:
"Mrs. Jill is soooo nice! She helps people feel better." -4 year old
"Mrs. Jill is the best winner in the whole wide world!" -4 year old

From the Staff at the Child Development Center,
