The Heroines

Jessie Chlysta

is honored with a Brick from Denise & Tom Glenn and Michele & Dominick Wisniewski

Jessie Bielewicz was born on Christmas Day, 1920 in Bulger, Pennsylvania and passed away on July 11, 2018 in Waldorf, Maryland. She married Michael Chlysta on January 9, 1943 on a snowy day during Michael's Army weekend pass.

During World War II Jessie worked as a machinist and was an actual "Rosie the Riveter." Later, after raising two daughters with Michael, she was able to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement.

Jessie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a woman of inner strength and courage whose greatest joy was cradling her grandchildren and great grands. Her grandchildren have fond memories of being outdoors with her and "Pap" in their Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania backyard catching lightening bugs while "Grandma" waited with a jar to collect the bugs.

When visiting Grandma and Pap in Pittsburgh, family could expect fresh coffee cakes for breakfast and the best pierogies, corned beef or breaded pork chops for dinner. Jessie's Christmas cookies and poppy seed and nut rolls were a labor of holdiay love.

Jessie created many tradtitions and memories that live on in her family.

She was one of a kind...
