The Heroines

Carol Ann Wenderoth

is honored with a Brick from Andrea Gragert, Diana Knolla, and Nancy Winters.

Carol Ann Wenderoth was born March 11, 1944, to Marie and Fritz Wenderoth. She had one younger sister, Kathy. Carol Ann attended schools in Wichita, Kansas. She went to Blessed Sacrament grade school and Mt. Carmel Academy. She graduated from Wichita State University in 1967, with a degree in speech pathology.

Carol Ann married Frank Limberg in August, 1967. She worked as a speech therapist in the Wichita public schools. Frank, Jr. was born in March, 1969, and Carol Ann then changed her vocation in life to that of full-time wife and mother. The Limbergs soon had two other sons: Jason, born in May of 1971, and Neal who was born in December, 1976. Eventually, the Limbergs made the Kansas City area their home.

Life changed dramatically for Carol Ann and her family in the early 1980's when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Undaunted, Carol Ann spent the remainder of her life moving valiantly through the debilitating stages of the disease. Her loving family was a constant support throughout all of this.

Carol Ann's final years were spent in a nursing home in Overland Park, Kansas, but her mother, sister, and family were a daily presence in her life. Her physical abilities slipped totally away, yet she remained alert and engaged in life. Even as she suffered, she put others at ease. Carol Ann was a source of joy and inspiration to her family and friends. She will be remembered as a woman of grace, dignity, strength, and courage to all who knew her. She died on February 15, 1995.
