is honored with a Large Paver from Marylin Werschky.

Betty Oliver Graham Class of 1933

Betty Virginia Oliver Graham was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 24, 1911. Her family moved to Wichita in 1912. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1929 where she was active in orchestra and dramatics, Secretary of Student Council, and a member of National Honor Society.

A member of the Municipal University of Wichita, class of 1933, Betty was a member of Sorosis sorority and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. A business education major in the College of Business and a violinist, she attended the University on a music scholarship.

On March 16, 1935 she married Galen Graham (Class of 1933) and became the accountant for the family firm in 1946. As a near native of Wichita, Betty's list of community contributions is voluminous and certainly makes her an appropriate honoree for the Plaza of Heroines.

Her community activities have included: Chairman of the Camp and Hospital Committee for the Red Cross (during WWII); Regent of D.A.R.; organizer and President of the Symphony Women's Committee; Chairman of Little Theater ticket drives; various offices and committees for Junior League; President of the Wichita Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter; Town Talks; the Saturday Afternoon Music Club; and President of the Women's Board at Crestview Country Club. Betty has loved golf and bridge in her leisure time. She and Galen continue to reside in Wichita at this time (1998).
