The Heroines

Delores M. Curry

is honored with a Brick from Denise D. Curry Sherman.

Delores M. Curry Without hesitation, we would like to honor our mother, Delores M. Curry as the most influential heroine in our lives. Mother has given unconditional love, support and guidance. She always encouraged us to do our best and believed in us when we couldn't believe in ourselves. It was her persistence that taught us to get through tough times and her sense of humor that made those tough times easier. Mother has helped us build a foundation in our lives that has been instrumental in our becoming successful adults. We would like to take this opportunity to express our love and appreciation.

Delores was born and reared in Philadelphia, PA and completed her earlier education at Murrell Dobbins Vocational-Technical School. She earned her Bachelors in Home Economics at Friends University and briefly taught school at East High School. She later retired from Boeing Military Aircraft and volunteered her services at Veterans Administration Hospital and had a brief stint as a local coordinator with AARP. She was active in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Our mother raised 3 children with gentleness, kindness and most of all, a wonderful sense of humor. We often find ourselves saying... "Momma would have had a good laugh about that!" She taught us that family and close friends are important and to pursue what was important in our lives. She could always find something positive and humorous in all situations, and that is why we believe she had so many friends.

Mother appreciated many cultures and had a particular interest in history. She was also an avid reader and passed on that love to us. It was her love for sewing that Denise acquired her seamstress skills, it was her love of language that Othello III pursued Spanish and her ability to decorate a house that Karen became so talented in home interiors. She passed on to each of us her own special talent and we continue the tradition daily.

Momma has passed on, but there isn't a day that we don't think of her. People often comment that we will say, do or resemble her in some way. That is the greatest compliment of all.... To our heroine with love, Denise, Karen and Othello III.
