Annabelle Haupt Mrs. Annabelle Haupt has served Church Women United for many, many years, serving as President of CWU in Wichita for the years 1971 through 1973 and served on the State Church Women United Board.

Their pride and joy are seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Haupt has been very active in the Wichita area, serving in such organizations as Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), Women's Crisis Center, Parent-Teacher Association, Job Corps, Women in Community Service, League of Women Voters, American Association of United Women, Inter-Faith Ministries, Black Historical Society, Urban League Guild, Methodist Federation of Social Action, Riverside Citizen Neighborhood Association, Old Cow Town Association, Great Plains Earth Institute, Global Learning Center, Friends of the Public Library, Panel of American Women, United Way, Peace Action, Peace and Social Justice of South Central Kansas, coordinator for the Guidelines Television Series for over 30 years, and recipient of the Brotherhood Award presented by the National Council of Christians and Jews. She has picketed for fair housing, registration for the draft, hunger for children and was among the 20,000 who marched for peace with peace ribbons in Washington, DC., just to name a few.

When we look past the statistics to the woman, Annabelle Haupt exemplifies a virtuous woman. She's warm, loving, gracious, a valued mentor, encourager and role model. She enjoys gardening, sewing and traveling, especially abroad.

Because of the many contributions of Mrs. Annabelle Haupt, to Church Women United, to Wichita and the community, she was highly recommended to be among the women honored in the Plaza of Heroines at Wichita State University.
