The Heroines

Anita Frey

is honored with a Brick from Olga Hernandez Garcia.

Anita Frey When I discovered what they were doing with the Plaza of the Heroines, one name came to my mind very quickly. It was Anita Frey. I met Anita four years ago when she was looking for somebody to help her with her Spanish. At that time, I had just come from Spain to attend Wichita State University. Destiny brought us together.

While I helped Anita with Spanish, she helped me not only with my English, but my overall well being. I learned English much faster than what I expected because of her. I also learned quickly about American culture. It was like the American dream. In the beginning I thought it was too good to be true, but now she is part of my life. She has been my greatest support for the last four years and she has treated me as a member of her family and made me feel at home here in America.

I feel very fortunate to have Anita as a friend. I can't thank her enough for all the things that she has done for me. I would not have come this far without her support. This is someone who gives of herself so freely and generously to many people. I will never forget her. Therefore, I want to honor Anita by dedicating this brick to her. Although it is only a symbol, I hope that it demonstrates how much she has meant to me.
