The Heroines

Cleta Blessing Friesen

is honored with a Brick from Joan F. Kornelson.

Cleta Blessing Friesen My mother, Cleta Blessing Friesen, was one of six children born to a mail carrier and a sweet quiet woman who loved books. She was raised in a loving home and received the best qualities of both parents. Although her parents and beloved only brother died when she was young, she continues to honor their memory by her generous manner and good works.

My mother is truly an angel on earth. She has so much love and compassion for others, and is constantly giving of herself. She is kind and gentle but possesses incredible strength and courage. I especially saw these qualities when she was caring for my terminally ill dad. Mom has lived through every burden of her children, enduring sleepless nights and anxious days, but always making each child feel irreplaceable. My mom is a poet, businesswoman, speaker, and is constantly growing. She is mastering the computer with zeal and constantly seeking more knowledge about the world around her.

Mom is dedicated to God, family, church, and community and is the keystone of my life. My mother deserves to be honored in the Plaza on the campus of my alma mater; she is a true heroine.
