Helen Jean Throckmorton

Dr. Helen Jean Throckmorton was a long-time teacher in the English Department at Wichita State University. She was an outstanding educator, a "teacher's teacher" and beloved by a couple of generations of students.

She has been more than a teacher to me. She has been my friend, mentor, confidant and "sister" for over 40 years. In her intelligent, stable, thoughtful, kindly way, she has seen me through happy times, sad times, dull times and exciting times. "I knew, and continue to know, that I could count on her friendly, loving presence anytime I needed it." I want to honor her now, for she is a heroine to me.
