Evelyn Diane Humig, affectionately known as Diane by her family and friends, is being remembered with the dedication of this brick to the Plaza of Heroines. Diane passed away on May 22, 2003 at her residence in El Dorado, Kansas. She was 45 years old.
Heroines have exceptional qualities and generally are recognized as community leaders. The quality that made Diane a heroine was her gift of giving freely. She gave the gift of care and concern to her family as demonstrated in making quilts for children and grandchildren, making sure that her children received an education and were prepare to continue when she died. Diane also gave her family a foundation of faith and the desire to serve other people. Diane gave the gift of humor to other people in hopes of creating smiles and a positive perspective to life. She planted flowers in her apartment complex so that other people would have something pleasant in their lives.
The gift that Diane gave the Care Team of Hospice Care of Kansas was sharing her vitality for life, her inner beauty and her gift of faith. She is a heroine.
