Sheryl Denise Ballenger

Sheryl Denise Ballenger was born in Lubbck,Texas on April 23, 1963 to Frances Lee Safley Ballenger and Marcus Taylor Ballenger. She completed her GED in 1981, and in 1998 she completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia State University in special education/communications with an emphasis in sign language. In 2002 Sheryl completed her Master of Education degree also from Georgia State University; and, currently, she is completing her PhD. from the University of Georgia. After serving a number of years as Coordinator of Special Services at Georgia Institute of Technology in she accepted the position of Director of Student Support Services at Georgia Highlands College in the University System of Georgia. Sheryl married Mark Bailey and on April 26, 1978 a daughter, Teresa Denise was born. On August 13, 1982 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Sheryl married Jerry Dean Cohoon. Meredith Renee Cohoon was born on August 2, 1984, Jarrod Ballenger Cohoon was born December 19, 1986 and Zachariah Evan Cohoon was born on January 29, 1991. July 6, 2010 Sheryl married Richard Lawrence (Larry) Curtin, Jr. in Ouray, Colorado. Sheryl is an extraordinary daughter, mother, grandmother and person. She has an unbelievable drive both personally and professionally and balances all of these activities with grace, kindness and love. My daughter is truly one of the finest and most loving daughters any father could have.
