Joann Loquist
is honored with a Brick from Marcus Ballenger
A number of years ago, I was interviewing candidates for the position of Teacher Education Certification Specialist for the College of Education. During these interviews, I met and hired Joann Loquist for the position. Little did I realize that she was going to become such an excellent member of the Student Services Offices, an extremely professional team member, a loyal colleague, and a most trusted professional and personnel friend. Joann not only performed her job as Certification Specialist in a manner that met the University and State Department of Education requirements but she was a mentor to students who had problems meeting those requirements. In addition to her duties with certification, she also served as Director of the Student Services Center where she supervised the daily operations of that office. Joann’s calm demeanor and her attention to details kept the office and our relationships with students, faculty, other campus offices and the State Department of Education on a helpful and friendly basis. Joann and her late husband, Leland, have three children: Eric, Melissa, and Sarah. I am pleased to place a brick in her honor in the Plaza of Heroines for Joann is truly a heroine of mine.
