Sandy Peer
is honored with a Brick from Sue Neal and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
"A contagious love of teaching and learning" That is one of the qualities one sees in Sandy Peer.
Multitudes of math students and mathematics teachers across Kansas consider her their role model. Sandy provides leadership for teachers through her volunteer work with the Kansas Department of Education and was present with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. She was also one of the first teachers to earn National Board Teacher Certification.
Since retiring from Wichita High School Northwest, Sandy holds the position of Math Educator at Wichita State University. This is a joint position shared by the Mathematics Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education. Here she exemplifies excellence in the teaching and learning of mathematics.
Sandy displays high energy and enthusiastic involvement in her classes. Think of the fun of having a teacher who brings in her keyboard and has you sing your math lesson. That’s Sandy.
