Cynthia Chauhan
is honored with a Brick from Elizabeth Ablah
Cynthia was born and raised in south Louisiana. As a child, she learned to read early and spent many hours at the local library reading every book she could. She always dreamed of traveling especially to India. When she finished high school, she spent her first year of college at LSU, and upon receiving a scholarship, she transferred to Valparaiso University where she graduated with a degree in English and theology. Cynthia taught school for a year in rural Louisiana, saving all of her money so that she could go to India, the land she had dreamed of since childhood. While in India, Cynthia met Om. They married eight months later in London, came to America and both went back to school. Cynthia went to graduate school in social welfare, and Om went in electronic engineering. They both worked in our professions. Nine years into their marriage, they had their wonderful son, Jai. Shortly after, Om's work began transferring him, and they eventually settled in Wichita, Kansas. As Cynthia moved through life, she developed an interest in volunteering and focused her interest in cancer and heart failure research. Cynthia has a broad set of interests. She loves to travel and experience other cultures. She has had pets, especially dogs, since she was six weeks old; she paints and writes prose and poetry. She loves to network people with each other. Gardening is one of her favorite pastimes; right now, she is focusing on naturalizing her yard. Cynthia is a brilliant, motivated, adaptive, and resourceful woman. More importantly, she has an enormous heart, and she willingly shares her time, creativity, spirit, and love.
