Sylvia Harden WolcottRev. Sylvia Harden Wolcott, the daughter of Anna Maxine King Harden and Dr. Philip Harden, grew up in South Dakota and California, spending summers with her father at Itasca State Park, where he trained park rangers. Her childhood was full of art, music and insects (her dad was an entomologist). She recalls afternoons in her father’s canoe on the lake where they would watch butterflies emerge from their cocoons. Sylvia’s father encouraged her musical gifts from an early age and supported her pursuit of those gifts throughout her life. Sylvia married Dr. Robert W. Wolcott and they have three children and nine grandchildren. Sylvia’s faith has called her to service in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and later on as a professor at Central Christian College in McPherson, KS. An accomplished musician, Sylvia received her Masters in Piano Performance from Wichita State University. Sylvia’s passion for life, her faith and her music have been gifts that she has shared with those around her. Former students and friends describe Sylvia as warm, passionate, creative, inspiring, faithful and kind. She is a woman of grace, mercy and generosity and her musical gifts have brought light to the world on many occasions.
