Janet R. Jensen
is honored with a Brick from Zachary Brown
The Barton School of Business Student Success Center would like to recognize Janet Jensen for more than 25 years of dedicated, professional service to our students, faculty, staff, and college. We collectively wish her well in her future endeavors as she celebrates her retirement beginning in December 2022!
Janet laid the brick upon which the foundation of our college's dedication to students is built. She was the first dedicated professional advisor hired to serve students in the Barton School of Business as she began as a student advisor in 1997 while she was completing her undergraduate degree in Economics. She continued in that role as it developed and evolved over the years, showing steadfast dedication to helping her students succeed and frequently going above and beyond the call of duty to help a student resolve any problem, regardless of whether it was big or small.
She served as a role model for her of colleagues. She taught every person she worked with little tricks, important tips, and shared her experience and knowledge with anyone who could benefit. She did every job in the office, and set the standard for which all other staff are measured.
We can think of no better way to recognize and celebrate her service to Wichita State University and the W. Frank Barton School of Business than with a brick that will be laid in the Plaza of Heroines next to her professional home for more than 25 years- Clinton Hall. While the Barton School has moved to a new home, Clinton Hall will always be a special place for many of us on campus and if those walls could talk, they would echo the advice and words of wisdom that Janet shared with countless others, and we would all be fortunate to listen to that advice.
Congratulations Janet on reaching this milestone in your personal and professional career! We can't wait to hear what is next for you and we will always be appreciative of everything that you have taught so many of us.
Thank you Janet and happy retirement! Sincerely,
Your colleagues in the Business Student Success Center
