Judy C. Frost
is honored with a Brick from Ray E. McGeorge and sons.
Judy Wingfield Frost, a native Kansas and 1973 graduate of Wichita State University, was born on December 27, 1945, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Cleo and Ruby Hetherington Wingfield. She graduated from Lyons (Kansas) High School in 1963, attended Wesley School of Nursing from 1963-65, and graduated from Wichita State University with a B.S. in Administration of Justice in 1973. She furthered her education by graduating from the Economic Development Institute (University of Oklahoma) in 1991, and received her M.S. in Adult, Occupational and Continuing Education in 1995 from Kansas State University.
Ms. Frost was married to Ray E. McGeorge, a graduate of Washburn University of Topeka (BBA 1970 and JD 1977), in 1980. Judy is the mother of three sons, all graduates of Topeka High School: Andrew Christopher McGeorge (BS 1994, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and MS 1996, Northwestern University) who resides in Tempe, Arizona; Kevin Thomas Frost (senior at the University of Kansas) who resides in Lawrence; and Ryan Lawrence Frost (junior at Kansas State University) who resides in Manhattan.
She was nominated for the Plaza of Heroines by her husband and sons and in honor of her service to culturally and economically disadvantaged Kansans. Through her voluntary and vocational endeavors, social service programs and life skills training were provided for residents of Topeka public housing areas, and vocational training and placement opportunities were provided for clients of SER Jobs for Progress in Wichita.
At the time of her nomination to the Plaza, Ms. Frost was a career counselor for Washburn University of Topeka. Previously, she was resident services manager for the Topeka Housing Authority, an economic development specialist for the City of Topeka, the membership director for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a job placement specialist with SER Jobs for Progress, Wichita. She has been a present or former member of P.E.O., Wichita State University Alumni Association, League of Women Voters, national and Topeka Audubon Societies, and the Topeka YWCA. Additionally, she served as a Cub Scout den leader and was president of the Topeka Association of Gifted Students from 1986-87.
