Sue F. Bair
is honored with a Brick from Bobbie Harris and Bonnie Bing Honeyman.
At a university the size of Wichita State, you wouldn't expect a teacher to lend support whenever a student needed it. Sue Bair, a teacher in the Physical Education Department at WSU, not only teaches the importance of physical fitness, she makes every student she has feel important.
Sue instills in physical education majors the importance of treating students as individuals and makes sure her student teachers go out to the public schools with confidence.
I remember when she was my teacher in the late 1960s she showed us the importance of camaraderie and encouraged us to support and care for each other. Many of her students have gone on to become award-winning teachers.
It is fitting that an exceptional teacher who has helped develop a strong physical education department at Wichita State University be honored in the Plaza of Heroines. Sue Bair has devoted much of her life to this institution and has worked hard to improve the quality of education in our state.
