Felicitas Moras Del Pozo
is honored with a Brick from her entire family in the USA, Canada, Peru, Argentina and Mexico.
To have known her was to have loved her!
Felicitas Amelia was a unique woman with integrity, dignity and respect for all human kind. Her star rose the highest among women. She was a woman of very humble beginnings, who grew up in the highlands of the Peruvian Andes, yet a Master of Arts in Love.
Felicitas was a totally devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her understanding of the world was based on moral principles that were immutable. Felicitas understood sacrifice and unselfishness in favor of "LA FAMILIA." We were her pride and joy and she was ours!
Our tribute to her is based on her unparalleled capacity for giving. Felicitas not only provided the example to make her descendants men and women of integrity, but she had an unscathed drive to provide them with something she never had: a university education.
Felicitas worked countless hours of the day and weekends most of her life to provide the means for her 11 children, not only to be fed and clothed, but also to receive a college degree. And, indeed, they did.
Felicitas' sense of duty, courage, temperance, and generosity was exhibited all through her 82 years in this earth. Even at her deathbed, her thoughts were for others. She never lost her spiritual faith. Never have we known a woman who matched such fortitude. All her children will forever be grateful to the Lord for having had her as their mother and her grandchildren the privilege of having her as our grandmother.
I am her first grandchild, although I always felt like the last of her children. She is the inspiration in my life. My attainment of a college degree at Wichita State University is a tribute to her memory. This lasting tribute means that she will look upon it with great pride that her job is finally completed.
The sculpture "Danseuse Espagnole" couldn't be more appropriate at the Plaza of Heroines, since it reflects her joyous spirit; her singing while performing daily tasks still rings in our ears.
Mami, you are in our hearts and souls for eternity. You are our hero!
This poem was written about Felicitas Moras Del Pozo by her son Dr. Luis Del Pozo, PhD Education, on the occasion of her passing:
Siempre Inagurabas Los Dias
Siempre tu mama
Inagurabas los dias
Con el bienaventurado rocio
De tus cantos.
Ahora tal vez te vas
Pero quedara
Tu fragancia matutina
En todos mis rincones
Colmados de retamas.
Tu eres retama
Tu eres torcaza
Tu eres cania dulce
Perfumada por el viento
Tu eres siempre
Siempre
Siempre
Inaguracion de dias
Llenos de esperanza.
